Black Friday and Holiday Budgeting Tips

Ladies,

Thank you for watching our show tonight. We love to talk about shopping! However, we are also mindful of what the season is for and we want to be sure that you stick to your budget this year! Here are some tips to help you from Dave Ramsey.

  1. Make your list and check it twice. If you go into the retail outlet without knowing what you are going for or who you need to buy for, you are more likely to overspend. Go with a game plan!
  2. Just say "No." Sometimes people don't need to go Black Friday shopping. If you aren't going for something specific or don't know who to buy for, you are going without a mission (see step 1). Ask yourself if the trip is worth losing a few zzzz's.
  3. Contentment is free. The best gifts are already yours! Don't get too caught up in the holiday season that you don't take time to spend with family, friends, and help the less fortunate. Get your priorities in order and the rest will fall into place. Do you really need to buy a gift for someone you don't really know that well? Think about who you are buying for and consider making your gifts.

And, if you are going out on Black Friday, make a "road map" with a listing of when stores open and the deals you are going for. Good luck, Gurlfriend!

The Melon Patch

This weekend, I had the chance to eat at the Melon Patch in Chickamauga. I am always so amazed at how friendly the people are in our area. Every time I go to the Melon Patch, I see a friendly face. On Saturday, it was this cutie!

My visit to the Melon Patch made me realize how fortunate I am to have these special neighbors and friends in this corner of Georgia. It also made me realize how much I am going to miss fresh fruits and veggies come fall! Seriously, the Melon Patch has some of the BEST cantaloupe.

While I was there, I went around to the different tables and visited with some of the folks that were dining there. They had nothing but wonderful things to say about the Melon Patch. Not only do you get great southern cooking, you are surrounded by people who are genuinely nice.

And then, there's this....
Yes, I know I had two starches but they were so GOOD. Love the cantaloupe!

Go get some sweet tea, listen to a few stories, get to know your neighbors, and eat fresh food. Visit the Melon Patch and say hi to Karen, Gurlfriend. You will enjoy yourself!
